Benton County Farm Bureau hosted a luncheon at the Benton County Country Club for our county elected officials to discuss legislative issues. BCFB and Indiana Farm Bureau support the continued idea of a three offical elected commisioner government and the importance of keeping township trustees. It was a great time to listen to each other and share ideas to keep this message strong in minds of our state government officials. Kendell Culp, District 3 IFB Director facilitated the gathering along with President Tim Tabert. Others in attendance: Lelia Jozwiak, Maria Cantu, Peggy Puetz, Allan Buchanan, Pam Molter, Leon Cyr, Bernard Gick, Jack Wealing, Glenda Wallpe, Patty Clouse, Tish Ringle, Steve Wallpe, Lana Wallpe, Angie Brunton, Bernice Gilbert, John Gilbert, Bryan Berry, and Dave Fisher.
Highlights from our Anual Meeting
The Benton Central Choir entertained our audience with a great selection of tunes as we ate a delicious steak meal. Representatives from Benton Central's FFA chapter also attended. We feel very strongly that our young farmers in the county should know about Indiana Farm Bureau and all the benefits these young people can gain in education and experience by participating in our Young Farmer program once they graduate from high school. Dr. Craig Dobbins, an Ag-Economics professor from Purdue, spoke to us about the projected direction of land value. See our Monthly Minutes page for more details.!
Benton County Farm Bureau has been very busy this winter with a variety of community activities. Carrie Buck has been working with the Purdue Extension Office in running the Annie Meetings, a series of presentations directed toward women in helping them better understand the financial side of farm life.
Glenda Wallpe worked with the local Girl Scout troops on a variety of agriculture lessons, and she was at the Fowler IGA in February to help inform shoppers how to better spend their money to buy the most nutricious meals. Linda Klemme worked with her that day.
